About the Brand
In 1980 Paul Newman and his friend A.E. Hotchner decided to give friends homemade dressing in old wine bottles for the holidays. Their friends loved it and wanted more. Two years later, Newman’s Own Salad Dressing officially launched, generating over $300,000 in first-year profits. Paul declared, “Let’s give it all away to those who need it!”
Not only was his approach to giving away 100% of profits a unique concept at the time, Newman’s Own was one of the first food companies to focus on ingredients you could find in your own kitchen. Paul’s commitment to laughter and joy extended from his philanthropic efforts to his products. After 15 years in the business, by 1997 Newman’s Own had expanded to numerous product offerings, with production reaching countries around the world. Newman’s Own offers hundreds of delicious products that provide millions of dollars to help kids in need.
We’re all about giving back to the community and making the world a better place!
Certified Products
FAQ
- Yes! To learn more visit www.newmansown.org.
- Newman’s Own products all contain zero grams trans fats.
- The food has gone through a third-party certification process that validates that at least 95% of the ingredients (excluding salt and water) are organic. Even the manufacturing facility is inspected by an accredited certifying agent to validate that all products, procedures, and operations are consistent with USDA’s organic regulations and requirements.
- When a jar of sauce is opened, the vacuum seal on the jar breaks, allowing air to enter the jar. Because Newman’s Own’s pasta sauce does not contain preservatives, the product is susceptible to spoilage upon exposure to air, even when it has been properly refrigerated. The actual length of time the product can be kept in the refrigerator after opening is dependent upon many factors, including the temperature of the refrigerator itself. Typically, the product will last 3 to 7 days when refrigerated. It is advisable that any leftover sauce be used as soon as possible or removed from the glass jar and frozen until used.
- Please note, all of our products that are certified Kosher will have the Circle U symbol on the packaging.
- To ensure freshness and food safety, we recommend refrigerating Newman’s Own dressings once they are opened. Please note that the oil in the oil-based vinaigrette dressings may appear cloudy after being refrigerated. This is normal and there is nothing wrong with the product. Simply let the dressing come back up to room temperature and the cloudiness will disappear.
