About the Brand

Grass-fed means something different in New Zealand. This little island of ours has the ideal conditions for grass-based farming; fertile soils, good amounts of sun and rain, a temperate climate, fresh air, and clean water.

Fresh, lush, rolling green hills and pastures. This is where our farmers raise their animals, free to roam and graze as nature intended, promoting better animal welfare. A diet of nutrient-rich grass produces natural marbling and gives a finer, more delicate texture in the meat. The result is the finest quality, delicious, grass-fed red meat.

Our ‘plate-to-pasture’ strategy is how we make it happen – focusing first on identifying consumer needs, and then working with our farmers to grow animals and apply our expertise to meet those needs.

What makes Silver Fern Farms' grass-fed meat different?

How does grass-based farming work in New Zealand?
  • Most of the land used for livestock in New Zealand is unsuitable for crops, making pastoral farming a highly sustainable alternative. Our grass-based system optimizes natural resources and uses low-intensity farming practices to minimize environmental impact. Using a natural abundance of rainwater to grow grass, farmers optimize livestock to match the natural grass growth curve.
Are the animals given any growth hormones?
  • None of our animals are ever given growth hormones or promotants.
Can I change an existing order?
  • Orders are unable to be modified once it has been processed for shipping, however please reach out to our customer support team as soon as possible and we will do our best to help you.
Where do you deliver?
  • We deliver nationwide across the continental United States, but unfortunately we are currently unable to ship to Alaska or Hawaii.
