Yai’s Thai

We created Yai’s Thai to help make every meal delicious and #neverbland, without compromising a commitment to clean ingredients.

Our products all started in our home kitchen, where we whipped up trial batches with carefully selected ingredients, and many-a-phone-call with Leland’s mom until we had achieved the perfect balance.

About the Brand

Hi! We’re Leland and Sarah, and we’re so happy you found Yai’s! We created Yai’s Thai shortly out of college to build something together that we truly believe in. We’re passionate about changing how people think of and experience healthy eating, and wanted to improve the options available at stores. Naturally, we turned to the recipes we knew best! Leland’s half-Thai heritage lead us to a lot of Thai cooking in our own kitchen, and also lead us to our name – “Yai” is the Thai word for “grandma” (and is pronounced to rhyme with “Thai”).

We want to create products that taste amazing. Full stop. Not “oh it’s good for a special diet product.” We aim for “this is delicious, oh and it’s also [fill in special diet here].” (sidebar: ALL our sauces are Whole30 Approved, paleo friendly, gluten free, vegan, and low sodium, so you can eat your heart out knowing your sauce is just there to bring the flavor!) Since authentic Thai ingredients naturally have such bold flavors, we made a commitment to let these flavors shine without adding any junk, and to do so with products that are easy for anyone to use at home, without having to follow long recipes and gather obscure ingredients (galangal anyone?). Thai food is delicious, and we want you to be able to enjoy it regardless of your dietary preferences and cooking skills! We’re so excited to share our recipes with you!

FAQ

What does Yai mean and how do you pronounce it?
  • Yai is the Thai word for “grandma” and it rhymes with Thai! Our company is inspired by our co-founder Leland’s mom and Yai, who are both from Thailand.
How long do products last?
  • Unopened, all products will keep for about a year and a half. The best by (“BB”) date stamped on the jar will tell you this date. Our Thai Hot Sauces will last this long even after opening. Once opened, the rest of our products (curries, almond sauce, salsa, and relish) need to be refrigerated, and are best used within a month.
Which products needs to be refrigerated?
  • All products need to be refrigerated after opening except for our hot sauces, which will stay naturally fresh on your shelf.
My sauce looks separated. What's that about? Is it safe?
  • Separation is completely natural as a result of having both fats/oils (i.e. coconut milk, chilis) and liquids (i.e. lime juice). Just shake it up!
My curry sauce is solidified. Is it safe to eat?
  • Yes, this is perfectly safe to consume and is a result of the coconut milk hardening during temperature changes (or after being refrigerated). Once heated, it will return to a liquid.
Do any of your products contain MSG?
  • Never!
